Re: TR5MX clutch/kickstart issue

I'm going to do that but I’m still waiting for my son to get his staff discount card from Wickes. ;-) In the meantime, I suppose have to get a new outer timing casing to replace the mangled one, but there don’t seem to be many advertised and those I’ve found are out of stock. I was going to go to Ke...

Re: TR5MX clutch/kickstart issue

Yes it is - I tried to undo it but need to know the best way to lock the engine from turning.

Re: TR5MX clutch/kickstart issue

Finally managed to remove the three remaining screws having got an impact driver and got the cover off. Inside was a lot of swarf that has come from the clutch lever actuation area, which is why the clutch lever was frozen. The starter pinion spins on its shaft but doesn't turn the engine. I'm not s...

Re: TR5MX clutch/kickstart issue

Today I tried to remove the timing side cover and guess what? Just as expected 3 of the screws that were already a bit mashed up won’t come out  . Two at the top, one tight at the bottom. I tried a gentle chiselling but didn’t want to destroy the heads completely. I don’t have an impact driver...

Re: TR5MX clutch/kickstart issue

Oh dear, it sounds like a whole load of trouble that I haven't got time to deal with right now :(

TR5MX clutch/kickstart issue

Last time I rode it all was running well until approaching a T junction after brisk acceleration I went to pull in the clutch and it was rock solid  . There was no warning of this symptom, it just happened. I nursed the bike home with clutch-less changes and on trying to restart it found the k...

That looks good :thumb , I may actually get round to doing mine at some stage. Did you just hang it off the exhaust pipe? I can't see the support strap they provide with it anywhere....

Cheers,
Mark.

Re: Best silencer for B50

I was wondering about a silencer change for my TR5MX - not sure on the tube size though without removal.
Spotted this - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330856672345? ... 707wt_1148

Keep us updated if you get something.

Re: My first OIF..

Just seen the earth strap on the rocker box cover, wots that about then? Not altogether sure of that, I assume it is something to do with the lighting fitted to this bike. There is some sort of plastic insulation where the headlamp bowl clamps around the tops of the fork stanchions between the yoke...

Re: My first OIF..

Thanks guys, I think initially I may have jumped to the wrong conclusion. Looking more closely, and in better light I see there is a squareness to the adjusters, it's only the exhaust that is a bit rounded off. The other bodge on this bike is that come clown has put a bolt through the kickstart leve...

Re: Motor Cycle Insurance Problem

This is the most idiotic thing I have heard in a long time - a huge number of old vehicles have had replacement engines. Are they now all un-insureable? Makes a mockery of recycling.

My first OIF..

Having owned my TR5MX for a while and covered about 500 miles I decided to do a bit of maintenance, having been assured by the previous owner it was all done prior to my acquisition. I changed the oil and cleaned out the filters - all looked good so far. I do not have the primary oil level check scr...
