Basically if you have the back wheel off ground with the wheel spindle in place ( remove the drive chain) . Spin the wheel and let it come to a rest & at the 6 o'clock position place a piece of white tape or put a chalk mark on it . Spin the wheel again and if the marker stops at the 6 o'clock posit...

Re: Choice of Alternator and E.I. unit for B44VS1969

I am considering the prospect of changing the polarity of the bike to a Negative earth - as I am dumping the Zener Diode and the Rectifer for a Reg/Rectifer unit , also installing E.I.on the rebuild - is there anything else that would need to be changed to effect polarity change?.

The B44 looks pretty limited in places where to mount these 3 items mentioned....

Chain Guard Fitting Issue

A sprt of my restoration - my B44VS has the swinging arm type boss ( just along from the back wheel spindle ) that only has one mounting point for the chain guide – I have seen some that have a double mounting point and this is where the chain-guard is affixed . Re: Choice of Alternator and E.I. unit for B44VS1969

Just a thought here ( might be a stupid one ) rather than soldering this Zener in - would a fuse holder work to hold it in place - so in the event it blew some time in the future & you have another 24 it would be easier to change out rather than removing the old one & solder in another !.
