Re: B50 Transmission Noise - More Information
A bit of history..... I purchased my B50 powered Cheney as a collection of parts which claimed to be an almost complete bike off a well known internet auction site. My focus on the engine was the conrod and top end (barrel and head) as all gears selected correctly. There was an issue with the tightn...

Re: B50 MX Gearbox Mainshaft Bearing 70-8151
Thank you for your comments.
I eventually managed to remove the retaining ring - I was expecting it to have a round cross section but it was flat. Anyway, a new retaining ring has been ordered and I hope it will be a proper circlip!
Thanks again.

B50 MX Gearbox Mainshaft Bearing 70-8151
Can someone help please. I am trying to change the Gearbox Mainshaft Bearing 70-8151 within the timing cover on my B50 MX. I was expecting to find this bearing held in place with a circlip (70-8152) but it is located by a retaining ring (see photo). 20201121_214915.jpg Can someone advise how to remo...

Re: B50 Transmission Noise - More Information
Pelle, that you for your post. I have the timing cover removed and with the kickstart quadrant fully disengaged from the kickstart ratchet gear (but still supporting the layshaft), there is still the clicking noise. The ratchet gear is not "ratcheting" when the transmission input or output shaft is ...

B50 Transmission Noise - More Information
Further to my previous post (B50 Ignition Timing/Transmission Noise), the "graunching/metallic" noise appears to be a clutch assembly thrust washer issue. I now have a transmission "clicking" noise the investigate. The attached video helps describe the noise which can be characterised as :- - With t...

Re: Electrex Ignition Question
What you have done is correct - align the blue dots with the engine at TDC and tighten everything up.

Re: Electrex Ignition Question
Hi, I fitted an Electrex World STK-010D to my B50 last year. The instructions do not call up a tab washer (and I did not fit one but it would do no harm if you have space to fit). Just torque the nut up to 30 ft lbs as per the instructions. I did check with Electrex World and although the HT coil is...

B50 Ignition Timing/Transmission Noise
Hopefully someone can help me out with my B50 issues. I have a B50 engine installed in an Eric Cheney frame. The engine is fitted with Electrex World ignition set to 27 Deg BTDC (as recommended) and an Amal Premier carb. There are 2 issues :- 1. Using the correct starting procedure (just over TDC us...

Re: Leak back,
A very nice bike. Kommando has explained the leak back characteristic.
I am restoring a B50 powered Cheney and am interested in your silencer. Can you advise who made the silencer?
Thanks and regards,

B50MX Air Filter to Carburettor Intake Hose
I have an original B50MX and replaced the original Air Filter to Carburettor Intake Hose (Part Number 60-3483) with a new part - the original part was perished. Unfortunately, the new part is about 10 mm too short - has anyone else come across this issue and what was the solution or does anyone know...

B50 Breathing
The rebuild of my B50 in a Cheney frame is almost complete and I have fitted an Electrex World ignition unit. I am told I need to refit the auto advance/retard mechanism and contact breaker plate as these form part of the engine's breathing system. Is this correct and maybe someone could help explai...
