Re: 1967 BSA UL

For those budget minded racers (like me), you can always whack off the back of a B50 frame - saves about five pounds. Just add a B44 engine and go racing.

Re: Trailer Full of Trouble?

I got the BSA flag from a dealer - back in the day, as in when they quit selling BSAs. I'm sure it was a dealer item.

Re: Fitting Bultaco forks

I have fitted Bultaco forks to three of my B50 frames using the B50 stem. Very simple - just a bushing top and bottom for the yokes and a threaded collar at the bottom. Bushings are much cheaper than machining a new stem.

Re: Pressing Sleeve into Head

In Seattle, you should contact the machinist at Autosport (2121 Westlake) - he knows unit singles.

The B50MX had the day off. All ran flawlessly on the day. Can life get any better? Dean Newton Spitf...

Here's a shot of the bottom of my B50/B44MX. The tube between the footpegs must be removed to clear the oil pipes. Sorry for all the dirt . . . more photos on my website -

Racing in the U.S.

I've updated my website http://www.spitfire-racing.com/ with lots of photos from motocross events, even some B50 shots. At a recent event with 400+ entries, there were only 4 or 5 B50s. wfo47w

Tiny hole

What's with this little hole (see photo) in the timing cover? I never noticed it until I cut off the front part of the timing cover (no longer necessary with Rex Caunt ignition) resulting in a steady oil leak -

Anniversary

Last weekend I celebrated 30 years of owning and racing my B50MX at the AHRMA National in Chehalis, WA - out of the 400+ entries, there were 5 or 6 B50s and about 15 other unit singles. There are some new photos on my site www.spitfire-racing.com/ and AHRMA racing photos at www.ahrma.org/northwest/2...
