Santiago Herrero in memorian

Postby madsundaysurvivor » Mon Jun 20, 2016 12:25 pm

A few days ago TT ends and at my house always remember Santiago Herrero. My father always told me that he was one of the best racers of all time.

From here a small tribute

Sometimes ask me why no Spanish riders in the TT, and is the RFME (equivalent a FIM in Spain) does not license to race in TT since the death of Santiago Herrero in june 1970. And I penalizes racers who come.

In 2004 I was in team with a Racer friend (who ran with French license). My friend had a crash in bogalow and he broken sevaral bones, then an Argentinian team admitted us like mechanical and was the best TT of my life. I returnd at home crazy for running the classic tt next year, but my wife never let me  , a while before, had promised her that only racing in GP tracks, never Street or roadracings...

A few years ago I was fortunate to see the legendary bike racing by a friend in tribute to Santiago, and I could do this photos:

I love the ossa ,it's was a fantastic bike and santigo a great rider.I am sure he could have been world champion in 70.I know a french guy who has build a monocoque replica. The last one was water cooled.
I am always impressed by simple bikes like the b50 ,ossa ,bultaco racing again multicylinders.

I guess you're talking about Robert Alloyan, very nice replicas.

Some of Information that not much is known: the Ossa were offered to Cesar Gracia Samper (who was the pilot in the tribute and He allows me to do the photos), he had to take care of business, then the pilots were not millionaires, and retires from racing, and it was he who proposed to Santiago Herrero to Ossa, They had been partners in "Lube" years earlier.
