New petrol tank

Post by ringding » Sat Mar 03, 2018 2:07 pm

Not a B50 question, but it is for a BSA!

My Dad has a 57 A7 Shooting Star, which he bought in 62. He'd like a new tank for it as the existing one has had dents beaten out of it so many times it's starting to feel a little flimsy. He did buy one, made in India I think, from a UK bike shop but the quality of the chrome wasn't great and the threads for the petrol taps were pretty ropey. He's returned it.

I see that Burtons do a steel tank, but it's pretty pricey. Before he commits himself to getting the Burton one, getting it chromed and painted, does anyone have any feedback on the Burton tanks. Or indeed any recommendations of anyone else making replica tanks?

TIA.
Paul.
