BSC-CEI screws

Post by FGF » Wed Jul 22, 2020 3:05 pm

Hello ,

Rebuilding the B50 engine , it 's very difficult to find BSC screws like the 4 oil pump screws . 3/16 '' BSC
i 've looked over the classic suppliers and only one today.

Does someone know an English supplier for CEI or BSC screws ?

Stainless ones here in the UK, or maybe here

I can also recommend these people. Excellent Quality, I have used them on a couple of Norton projects.

.
I know I shouldn't have, but I used 2BA socket headed screws as I couldn't get hold of the BSC 3/16" at the time, loctited in place:
.
2BA 31.4 tpi, 0.0319" pitch, angle of thread 47.5 deg, core diameter 0.1469"
BSC 3/16 32tpi, 0.0312" pitch, angle of thread 60 deg, core diameter 0.1542"

Thanks for all.

i 've found a 3/16 BSC at RGM Norton by Gerry but for the oil pump , it 's difficult to have a little diameter (3/16) and a long thread ( 1 -5/16 )
with BSC.
Middleton and Custom fastener are interesting too , but for the 3/16 BSC i 've not found screws.

Draganfly propose the breather head screw wich is a 2BA near the 3/16 BSC like Steve wrote. I 'd prefer the ''genuine one '' if possible because
the breather head screw have a too large head diameter wich can't be fitted in the plate holes.

I have had an answer by Peter from BSA Unit Single for next week ! so , even with a longer shipping it could be fine.

For the loctite , if you have to dismantle the pump , the little thread will be very difficult to clean ?

What about the sealing between the pump cases , no gasket , no gasket goo , just grease ...'' Rupert '' wrote sometime '' SHELLAC '' ?

I would have thought that lapping the faces you should be able to get an oil tight joint, if I was worried the thinnest (transparent) smear of your chosen goo.....

SteveS you are a very naughty boy, not only should you have not done it, but as nobody knew, you shouldn't have admitted your guilt!

Sorry Gerry. totally ashamed of myself

I've always used Wellseal jointing compound for the oil pump. It's non hardening and I think shellac based
