Thanks guys.

Local extreemist Mr Raynard took the heads off my chickens last night. For my birthday I'm getting myself two new chooks and some ammo .

Happy Birthday MM

I look after next door's chickens when they go on holiday. A couple of years ago I lost all four to the fox on the very first night. That made for an interesting phone conversation...

Yes Gerry
Have a good one, drink to excess and it's all good till the morning after.
As for chickens I think mine cost about $10 in feed etc per egg.

Good to hear you're in one piece. Many happy returns <208 and few bottles of cider to you <219.
Get a llama for your chooks, my mate swears by them and they can be like having a loyal dog. His llama likes to lean on me when I visit him and his chooks are happy roaming freely around his garden.

Thankyou for all you good wishes. I had heard that John, there was a Tibetan monk in Glastonbury at the weekend, seems like a nice guy, not sure if he would scare the fox away or ask it to consider the contribution a vegitarian fox could make to world peace. :ban

We bought our last chucks from a farm in Wiltshire, a couple of Cotswold legbars that lay blue eggs.
I managed to time it to coincide with a visit to Marks.
Happy Birthday

Get yourself Maremma sheepdog a Warrnambool chicken farmer has trained them to keep the foxes away from the chooks and they now use them to guard the fairy penguins from foxes on an island at Warrnambool. Sheep farmers use alpacas to kill foxes around their frocks.

Ah, the cost of growing omelets just keeps going up. Always something.

My Cotswold Legbar was fox food (blue eggs), as was my Hienz 57 (white eggs), my Bluebell (brown eggs) is the only survivor. As a Maremma is about the same size as a llama, and you could make a nice rug out of either, I would opt for the latter (because they taste half good), but that idea has been poo-pooed by the boss. The choice is simple, 308 or expanding 22.
