The alternator is 200watts I think so you can't use less than 16amps or it will blow if it ever has to charge a flat battery. It is normal to have the fuse on the non-earth side of the battery.

Re: 1972 B50 SS Return to Flight .
I think the spokes are a problem. Compared to your own old spokes the bend is well outside the hub. I think this will make the spokes less stiff and more prone to fatigue after a few miles. I got my spokes from the Devon Rim company and they fitted like your old ones. I'd get at least a set of speed...

On the flip side, I haven't yet work out how to fit a means of adjusting tick-over. Since the original flamboyant red fades so badly and the colour is so dependent on the thickness of the translucent red layer it seems unlikely that two parts from a couple of years apart will match anyway. Why not just get some paint from http://www.rsbikepaint.com/en-gb/shop-paints.php?colourschem...

Stick a multimeter between the centre pin and the top connector. Resistor plugs will measure about 6kohms and non-resistor almost no resistance.

For what it is worth, in 2016 I bought a sad B25SS that had been stored for years. Here are all the pre-dismantling photos that show any wiring. Re: T25T/B25SS Wiring loom
Headlamp and main looms seem to be available but I think you're on your own for the electrical box loom. This might be because many people ditch the rectifier and zener diode so there isn't much demand for the standard loom. However you can get new spades that will fit in the headlamp loom socket an...

Just bought some progressive rate fork springs. I don't suppose it makes much difference but should I fit them with the fine coils at the top or the bottom. Seems to me that fine coils at the top would give slightly lower unsprung weight.

It is a moot point A permanent magnet alternator will always generate power while the rotor is spinning The Watts of energy will be the same regardless of weather the excess power is converted to heat by the Zenner or is converted to heat by the stator itself Not sure I agree with this. Any lithium battery used on a motorcycle should have a BMS (battery management system) built in. The JMS battery I recommended simply needs a charging system limited to 14.9 volts and the BMS will control the charge and Ballance the cells.

There doesn't seem much difference in price between the 3/8UNF that I used and the M10. The BSF stuff that the slave cylinders used originally is expensive. I used UNF because I was worried that my head might explode if I used M10 on BSA.
Hope conversion goes well.

I think the collars were fitted to some machines with two grease nipples as shown to try to direct grease into the bearings. Other swinging arms had a central grease nipple and had to fill the whole swinging arm tube before grease got into the bearings.

You can't do better than refer to the Rupert Ratio book 2 "Everything but the engine". It's got all the variations and many of the reasons behind then. The rear brake lever went down but there was a demand for a longer lever which would hit the swinging arm if it went down so new lever that went up ...

Yes. I have short and medium made by BSA and they both give crap braking so I thought I'd make some really long ones. Haven't tried them yet and they are unlikely to tempt me away from my hydraulic brake.
The grill looks too well make to be a one-off but I've also never seen one before.
