Need a lift for rally

Post by skippy »

Bike has fallen of side stand and broken a blinker, But all this talk of clogged sludge traps has gotten to the old girl and I can't see any oil returning to the tank

high sided of the side stand - now i've heard it all
sorry to hear skippy. so even when you rev it, no return spurt? have you got an external filter that your poor ol' pump is struggling with?
your new mudguard looks much better than the high one - where did you get it please?
Horsham is a little bit too far out of the way for me i'm afraid. :(
you obviously have a ticket and accom. looks like you might have to drive. :(
see you there.

hi skip,
there was a other one in this forum have had the same thing.
the trouble was only, the scavenge pump has picked up to much air, ergo no more return to the tank!
let it stay upright for a hour ore two, then try agayn, ore maybe next day.
I think it will come agayn.
good luck

I will be there at the rally. The bike has been running great it has no filter but it had a lot of aluminium dust off the piston and a lot of black sludge in the oil when I got it i will check again but it doesn't look good. If I am not sure I will bring it on the ute and ask for advice.

So far all I have found is a noisy gearbox sprocket bearing all other bearings are good sludge trap was about 20% full, pump pumps, all the oil ways are free, seals need replacing. The oil return pipe in the tank must have fallen off.

hi Skip,
i think the oil return line might be just a one piece, "S" shaped tube that passes through the frame where the hose clamps on. you can sometimes feel the tip of the tube inside. it's just to the rear of the filler and right up against the top of the top frame tube - stick ya finga in and feel for it.

Been doing the bathroom Stan, started about the same time as the beast, but needs to be finished so I can clear the garage of saw dust!
