B50 on You Tube

Post by SlowDave »

FYI, Michael Waller is doing a series of videos on You Tube rebuilding a B50. Enjoy. Part one was posted today.

Thanks for the pointer. That guy has an amazing range of uses for the humble screwdriver, I think I even saw him use one to remove a screw at one point in the video!
Seriously though, the video will be incredibly useful when I split my B50 engine. After watching it hopefully I won't fall into some of the traps that await the unwary.
If I had half the ability I think I have, I'd be bloody good!

I could only watch for a short while, some of the things he was questioning about the motor makes me feel that he has never seen the inside of a b50 before.

He did eventually cough up that he'd not opened one up previously. For someone like myself at the beginning of the B50 learning curve I found it informative and if it saves me from making at least one expensive mistake when I do my motor, watching the video will have been time well spent. Plus I can put my earbuds in and watch it on the laptop while SWMBO watches her cooking shows without having to suffer them myself

As with many things, watching someone else you learn how to do it and sometimes how not to do it. I appreciate his honesty and I feel better about my own muddling about. So many you tube guys don't show their mistakes along the way. I think I learn more from others' mistakes.

Nice video. Reminds me of the B50 I did years ago. Had to change my main bearings so it was a bit more involved. My only criticism is he is a bit careless with all the little bits and pieces. Need to keep them together and organized and out of the way. And with all those tab washers, a screwdriver is the most used tool. His ratcheting gun makes breaking screws easy. I will have one if I ever have to take my motor apart again.
