CCM at 40

Post by besaboy »

2011, it will be 40 years since Alan Clews bought his job lot of parts from the closing down BSA Comp Shop. This marked the start of CCM in 1971, with Alan working out of his garage to produce the Clews Stroka.
At Farleigh Castle, the Hereford T.S.C. kindley run a CCM race, so in 2011, for the 40th birthday, we should make it the biggest ever CCM race.
Who has a CCM and would bring it to show, ride, race next year ?
If we can get the right level of interest we can make it a 'Rolling Thunder ' birthday to remember. A display of bikes from all years and a many past and present riders as possible. I will enter 2 bikes and might get a former works rider back on his old bike.

Who is up for it ?

Count me in Rich.
Will bring "ole faithful". Just promise me, that if you do get Mr Wright to visit, he does not sit on mine. Methinks he is a smidget heavier now than he was back in 73. He'd flatten it !

Maybe, just maybe, I will be able to bring the new 73 too.

We'll start sending out invites with invoices soon. I'll also sort out a keep sake for some sort for every one who signs on and does at least one lap of practice.

Remember this is only open to the twinshock bikes.

The race will be scored in 3 groups. Upto and including 73 models. Upto early 77, bikes running the shorter travel 35mm forks. Then open CCM for the rest. Prizes to be sorted out.

Mark, that is very kind of you. Now we need all those CCM's out on the track next year. You will need to form a que outside Mark's place as he will be very very busy for the next year..... <215
We do want this to be a full range of all CCM's (no modern types, twinshock only meeting ie no discs etc) but very happy to have an area for them on display.
Lots of interest coming via MXtracks website. I hope we will see some of our friends from outside the UK OVER THAT WEEKEND, so book you holiday cottages early

Talking with Mr PES-CCM, he is always busy, but get your names down on the list and make sure he knows this is to get another CCM on the track at 40 @ 40 :thumb ccmicon ccmicon ccmicon :thumb

Don't forget to get your orders in soon for anything that you'll need for next years biggest ever CCM event. I've taken the bold step and ordered a New Jimmy Aird/Works 79 4valve CCM for myself. Although I've been told that other customers come first. I'll start a new project as soon as I get a frame

Besaboy and myself will be sorting out the pre registration form very soon and were hoping to have a full lineup of CCM's by Alan Wrights Telford show next year.

We need to sort out some flyers and posters. Maybe a big notice board for my stand at Telford. Would possibly make sense to have it as a B50.org meeting venue too.

To participate in the gathering of CCM to Farleigh Castle in July, what are the documents requested for a French driver,
knowing that I have no licence.
Is there a possibility, as in France to license the day ? :uhu

It should be very easy for riders all over the world to enter, and even those that have never held a racing license. We should have all the entry details sorted by Telford or if not before.

Bonsoir Mark,
First of all, I thank you very latly for making me a gear for my gearbox. <998 I know you are in high demand.
I have not reassembled the engine and I still specific issues to address, frame, air box, :uhu not insurmountable but it takes time and especially the taste of it.
I begin to bear the weight of the fifties, <938 <995 I can no longer manage my life as I wish.
My professional life takes precedence over my hobbies, <945 And then I think the batteries become weak as »c'est la vie » (it seems that with Interspan it works much better). ccmicon ccmicon
This will make 11 months I'm up on a road bike, I am ashamed!
Believe me, I am the first disappointment of not being behind the starting scale with other fans of the CCM brand for this event. <218 <933
I would try at least to make good pictures. <997
Which members roll? with what numbers?
Soon ccmicon ccmicon ccmicon

For those camping your welcome to turn up in the morning with mug in hand and be able to choose from tea or coffee. Will also have a Barby on site and a large sack of coals, so your also welcome to make use of that. Still have that 4 gallons of cider on offer, but I guess you all have sense lol

I'm hoping to turn up around lunchtime Thursday, but will have to go back to work as still frame building
