I know this topic in the news section got silly and rightly locked.
But Ian wrongly stated that it was cancelled.

From the Club Secretary Yesterday:
the CCM-only race depends on numbers entering.

If there are enough it will be CCM only. If not, will be combined with 4 strokes.

So get your entries in

Hi Chris

If it was me who used the word 'cancelled', then I'm very happy to stand corrected. More than happy.

Ian, event still on and we hope that we will get a full line of CCM's.
There has been a debate about JBR's and it has taken eyes off the main thrust, but hope everybody still wants to enjoy and ride their bikes on one of the
best tracks in the world and with huge CCM history.
I hope there will be a large B50.org get together. We need to have a proper meeting place, so we can find each other... ccmicon ccmicon ccmicon

Sounds good to me. Need to see the programe, so us racers can do our thing, get back and have oxygen treatment or cider for me.
Mark should be there in time this year, as he won't have to glue the door back on the bus... :laugh :laugh
sorry Mark - cheap shot, but you don't get get many top flight engineers who glue the door on upside down :thumb

Mark would have got away with it without anyone noticing if a thick layer of Farleigh dust hadn't adhered to the glue with was now on the outside!

I make that 10 CCMs and 10 Fourstroke entries to help with the thunder so far, probably more BSA's in the Classic.
Neither Ian or Mark appear on the list, who else is pontificating?

See you there

Not sure what pontificting means but have had change of plans. 3 of us ( 73-74-75 CCMs)decided to head up north
just find the £85 entry and all the organisation hassle too much to swallow ,they should be paying us to turn up. ccmicon

Mr. Chaos certainly has a very good point here, even if he is from Yorkshire.

Derbyshire, though close by, does have a little more finesse, but I am certainly pontificating at £85 (£85....£85....?), even for a good venue. And what with the price of diesel? Not priced to encourage is it ? ccmicon (notice the absence of alliteration or onomatopoeia).

I know £85.00 is a big lump of cash, but if we don't support this event there will be less chances to ride our bikes in future. The guys who run this event are not in it to make money, unlike some others. We will only be left with their type events and then £85.00 will look cheap..Download Farleigh regs for September

The way I look at it is what do you get for your money? A couple of CCM only races on Saturday and another couple on Sunday and I would be interested. If its fewer races and just a four stroke class then I may as well do 2 events up north for the same money or less, with less spent on diesel.

I would like to support 40 at 40 and ride at Farleigh. But what do I get for my hard earned cash?

By the way, don't get the wrong impression, I'm not tight.

After speaking to Emma, I am now in two minds whether to race or not. At the moment it is "not".

There is no structured CCM class now. I don't see the point in racing with the later 78/79 CCM's and "other" four stroke specials (all long travel).

The Classic classes of years gone by ... Pre-65 & Pre-74 or Classic 2 stroke & Classic 4 stroke are gone !
I really don't fancy the "British Classic Scrambles Championship" class either. Being mown down by the pro's is not my idea of fun. Plus I don't want to get in their way. If they ran the championship class separate to the normal classic class as they do at other meetings, then I would be happy.

This change to championship status is supposed to attract more classics ! For me, at least it has had the opposite effect.

Good luck to those that are going, and have fun. Maybe I will see you next year.

Ian, I hope you swing back.
Hereford TSC were always only going to run a CCM only race if we get enough entries, if not, top up with 4 strokes.
The three classes on the CCM40 site were/are three prizes that I was going to give. I don't have any backer/agenda etc other than a love of CCM from my days in the 70's when I was at Fowlers of Bristol, with Bob Hart, the main agents for CCM in the South. The last couple of years have seen fewer CCM's in that race and I wanted to see and hear more. I therefore paid for Steve C to do the website, having had confirmation from HTSC that they were happy for me to do this. ( This make the £85.00 only a small part of the spend. )
I have booked myself on my 75 and am very pleased that Vic Allan has agreed to ride my ex Andy Lee works 78 bike. I only ever wanted a field of CCM's, with everybody having fun riding their bikes on a track that is special to CCM/British fans.
Come, ride, drink cider, chat and smile....that is all I ever wanted for my investment. Thank you to Alan Clews for 40 years of great fun and everybody who helps keep it alive now.

Very well put Richard

But, from speaking to Emma the CCM only race will not happen as there is not enough hours in the day to run an extra class.

If the CCM race result was split into short/long travel bikes, it may be fun to ride. But at the moment it seems not. I am, as yet undecided, so let's see what happens.

You out as Oswlebury on a bike Richard ??

B50.org first meet was at Farleigh in 2005.
In 2008 Beat travelled how far to be there?
Jenny and myself thoroughly enjoyed watching Mark, Ian, Rob and the rest.
Rhino suggested I only need change the tyres so I've entered.
In fact I've paid the money for someone else to ride the bike!
Rickard and this site have encouraged a great many of us to spend money working on the bikes, Farleigh is the showcase of CCMs and BSA singles actually racing.
40 years of CCM, 40 years of B50s, it's the B50.org meeting of the decade!

getting late
See you there

I had some thoughts to also go there this year, but somehow I lost intrest in the debate. It would be fun to meet all nice members and I was looking forward to see 40 pcs of B50/CCM´s at the start grid.
